Nutrition

Central to UCCE's Nutrition program is the Expanded Food and Nutrition Extension Program (EFNEP). EFNEP's goal, while advocating for nutrition, is to help adults and their families establish and maintain healthy eating habits and physically active lifestyles.
"Participants get excited to learn that small changes, like the size of our dishes, help with portion control," says Grecia Rojas, an EFNEP participant from the McKinleyville Family Resource Center.
Participants like Grecia learn and plan nutritious meals, increase physical activity, stretch their food dollar, practice safe food handling, and prevent obesity through healthy lifestyles. EFNEP works with agencies to recruit participants, including WIC, Cal Fresh, Head Start and Child Nutrition.
