The first time I went to the Northcoast Youth Summit, I was afraid and unsure if I wanted to go. That was three years ago. I only knew one person when I went for the first time. We entered the theater and heard a story from one of the guest speakers, It was inspiring and I haven't forgotten the story he told. After that I met new people, and learned cool things through the workshops. One of the biggest things I took away from the summit was learning where things were on the campus. This was helpful because the first year I went to the summit was the year before I attended Academy of the Redwoods. I also really enjoyed the coding workshop.
I had so much fun that I went again and took a friend. This year I am excited about the raptor workshop with live birds, capoeira, and martial arts.
The Northcoast Youth Summit is a really opportunity for any person to learn a thing or two, meet some people around the Humboldt, Mendocino,Del Norte & Trinity counties and hear inspiring stories from people who have achieved their dreams.
The Northcoast Youth Summit is an amazing opportunity! I have had the chance to learn about careers as well as grow as a person. From college workshops to learning about and playing with puppies that are becoming seeing-eye dogs, the Youth Summit has provided me with an amazing chance to enjoy learning. For those considering it, I would strongly recommend coming. The Youth Summit has inspiring keynote speakers and fun activities too!
As a Senior this is my last year as a part of the planning team. I started attending NYS four years ago and I cannot wait to interact with new youth that will continue a tradition. I also encourage you to consider being a part of the planning team next year to learn more about event planning and working with community partners.
