Ties to the Land: Succession Planning

Succession planning is a complicated issue and one that many agricultural families are often unequipped to face. In order to help those families better prepare themselves and their land for the transition, the 'Ties to the Land' workshop was created to offer helpful advice and resources on succession planning. Originally developed at Oregon State University, the program is now being used nationwide to educated families of varying backgrounds, ranging from timberland ownership to ranching and farming.

The goal of these workshops is to inspire landowners to get started and set targets for completion of the necessary documents so the next generation, either heirs or new business partners, will have a smooth transition and the best chance to succeed.
