Junior Giants and EFNEP Go to Bat for Healthy Living

Baseball and carrots were a home run in Humboldt County’s Junior Giants program this past summer. The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods and EFNEP, the UCCE’s nutrition program. met on the field and formed a new team. The UC staff adapted the nutrition curricula to complement the baseball program lessons and created a winning combination. In all, over 250 youth from three communities participated in the Junior Giants program. Next time you see a Junior Giant in your neighborhood ask them about their vegetable home run!
